1. Installation
Install from Figma Community
- Open Figma Desktop App
- Go to Plugins → Browse plugins in Community
- Search for "Microcopy Fixer"
- Click "Install"
💡 Note: The plugin works on both Figma Desktop and Browser versions.
2. Get Your API Key
You need an API key to connect the Figma Plugin to your Microcopy Fixer account.
Steps to Get API Key
- Go to your Dashboard
- Find the "API Key for Figma Plugin" section
- Click "Generate API Key" if you don't have one
- Click "Copy" to copy your API key
⚠️ Important: Keep your API key secure. Don't share it publicly. You can regenerate it anytime if needed.
3. Authenticate in Figma
Connect Your Account
- In Figma, go to Plugins → Microcopy Fixer
- The plugin panel will open
- Paste your API key in the "API Key" field
- Enter your email address
- Click "Connect"
✅ Success! Your API key is saved in Figma. You only need to do this once.
4. Extract & Rewrite Text
Basic Workflow
- Select Frames: Select one or more frames in Figma that contain text layers you want to improve
- Open Plugin: Run the Microcopy Fixer plugin from the Plugins menu
- Extract Text: Click "Extract Text from Selection" to scan your frames
- Choose Project: Select which project to save the copy to (each project has its own brand voice)
- Choose Screen: Select which screen/folder within the project
- Set Element Types: For each extracted text, choose the element type (Button, Label, Error, Help, H1, P, CTA, Tooltip)
- Rewrite with AI: Click "Rewrite with AI (2 credits)" next to any text
- Review Variants: AI generates 3 alternative versions using your project's brand voice
- Apply Changes: Click a variant to apply it to your Figma text layer
5. Element Types
Setting the correct element type helps AI generate more contextually appropriate rewrites.
Action-focused CTAs (e.g., "Sign Up", "Continue")
Form labels, section titles

6. Credits & Upgrades
Each AI rewrite costs 2 credits. The plugin shows your remaining credits in real-time.

7. Sync to Dashboard
When you apply a rewrite in Figma, it automatically saves to your Microcopy Fixer dashboard with full version history.
What Gets Saved:

- ✓ Timestamp
- ✓ Source: "Figma Plugin"
View all your changes in the Dashboard where you can export, rollback, or compare versions.
Troubleshooting
Plugin won't load
Make sure you're using Figma Desktop App or a recent browser version. Try reloading the plugin.
API key not working
Double-check you copied the full API key from your dashboard. Make sure there are no extra spaces.
No text extracted
Make sure you selected frames that contain TEXT layers. The plugin only extracts visible text nodes.
Credits not updating
Refresh the plugin to see your latest credit balance. If credits are missing, contact support.
